Yes, it's that time again; it's World Book Day! I decided that today would be a good opportunity to talk about why books are really important to me.
The first books I every read were tales of loveable creatures such as Wibbly Pig and Kipper the dog by Mick Inkpen, enchanting little children's books which did truly inspire my love of reading. There were many others, but these were the first books I ever read, and I will always remember them.
Ever since an infant, I've adored reading. They took me anywhere I wanted, far from the limitations of life. I could imagine whole different universes, strange creatures and magical characters. They are important to me because they make me feel special. They make me feel like a new person. Books shaped my character and made me who I am.
And so, as yet another World Book Day rolls around, I ask you to take a moment to savour a novel or think about your own reading journey. I hope that your journey never ends.
