OMG! It's a brand new banner. //slaps face in shock//
Well, hello again! I'm sorry that I didn't post last week - it was a VERY busy weekend.
But today, I have a review for you, so yayyyy! Let's get right into it
Synopsis (Goodreads)
Can you still love with a heart of stone?Sebastian Grey always thought he was a fairly normal teenager – good friends, decent grades and a pretty sweet job in his foster brother’s tattoo shop.
But when Romany gypsies arrive in town, Sebastian discovers that his world is not what it seems. There is an age-old feud between his family and the gypsies – and this isn’t the only secret his brother has been keeping from him. His life is not his own. The girl he’s been dreaming about has just turned up at school, and he feels compelled to protect her at all costs.
Even if that means life might never be normal again.
My Review
What I loved about this book is the way Whitney chooses to prioritise love. She doesn't show romantic love as being any more or less important than the love of friends and family, which is a rare thing. Authors often focus on romantic love. It's just such a refreshing way for an author to write about life and the effects of people on others.
The writing is smooth and engrossing - I am a big fan of the way Whitney writes, it just feels right for me. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way, right? If you read the book and you agree, tell me please!
Sometimes I found interactions between the characters a little wooden, but we can forgive her that; it was only once or twice!
Just in general, the plot enveloped me, the words kept me reading, and the characters were tangible. Real people, not cliches
This is kind of a mini review since I don't have that much to say ; I just think that the theme of gypsies is underdone, and I simply adored the plot line so much. I look forward to hearing some more from Whitney, as this was a very promising debut novel, I would say. So thank you to Christi for giving me the opportunity to review her book!
I'm going to award this novel:
