Advent Calendar, days 2 and 3!

Behind the next two doors is a review of Dead Ends by Erin Lange, the author of  Butter, which I also reviewed.

This story sets a relatable character into the an incredible plot which still feels real. In some places it feels hard-hitting and gritty, in others warm and funny. It is about the strong deviant we all know in one form or another as a boy named Billy. D moves into the house across the street. It follows the two boys as they bond and become friends, meeting tomboy Seely along the way. As they search for Billy's lost dad,  you get an amazingly intimate window into Billy's mind. You see how his personality differs from Dane, the protagonist. Lange is a captivating author, definitely, and I look forward to reading more of her.
