Those of you who follow my Twitter account will know that today the difficult decision was made to put our nineteen-year-old cat, Mischief, to sleep.
She was a very sweet and good-natured animal. My mother rescued her when she was five weeks old from a family who were going to drown her in a bucket.
Over recent years her health had been deteriorating. She had issues with her thyroid and with her sight and balance. Today she started vomiting all over herself repeatedly, as she has been doing a little recently, but nowhere near on this level. So, reluctantly but with the knowledge we were making the right decision, we took her to the vets and our little cat fell asleep, wrapped in a blanket, being cuddled by the whole family.
She has been the sweetest animal I've ever known. She had not a shred of anything nasty in her tiny body, and she has never intentionally harmed anyone.
I loved her so much, and I still do. She will ever leave me. It honestly seems so weird to be writing about her in the past tense- it still hasn't really sunk in for me yet. I can't bear to think that she's really gone.
So with that, I end my post with a goodbye to the most wonderful cat I have ever known and pray for the preservation of her memory.
